Safety Supervisor
The Safety Supervisor will be supporting Food Authority’s Corporate Safety Initiatives regarding transportation, warehouse, and employee safety. The person selected for this position will report directly to the Director of Safety and will work closely with the branch and Safety team. Implementation of new innovative programs, training, and processes to maintain our compliance and safety will be an important objective. Record keeping and reporting on all aspects of compliance will be necessary to determine company goals along with holding our people accountable to all standards outlined by both Federal & Company policy. This role will continually expand as our safety programs grow.
Responsibilities
- Implement programs that reduce or eliminate accidents and injuries.
- Audit, review, and train team members on the proper methods for loading trucks to ensure load integrity, weight distribution and security.
- Spearhead the implementation of Fleet and Employee Safety Programs created by Corporate.
- Maintain all required documentation for warehouse certifications.
- Deliver specific required annual certification training.
- Maintain all required documentation for fleet (Registrations, Insurance ID cards, Lease Agreement, IFTA License).
- Administer Annual OSHA training created by Corporate.
- Additional company paid course training (ADP, OSHA, DOT FMCSA etc.). Program adherence will need to be kept current.
- Manage all driver candidates through the onboarding process, manage and monitor all new hire training is adhered to and completed.
- Manage and spot check DVIR program, providing coaching.
- Manage compliance with Accident Reporting, Drug & Alcohol testing requirements for DOT compliance. Ensure Post-Accident Road Tests are completed prior to return to work.
- Work with transportation team to eliminate H.O.S violations, maintain logs, and DVIR’s.
- Fully support the company's driver training program to promote defensive driving.
- Monitoring driver behavior through Drive Cam system.
- Provide all new hires with Safety training during the onboarding process.
- Provide Liftgate training for all Drivers and Helpers to ensure equipment is being used safely.
Requirements
- Ability to work flexible days/hours to accommodate the needs of the business.
- Normal hours Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm (Hours will be determined on current needs and objectives of the business - Flex-hours and days).
- Preferably a minimum of 2 years of training experience related to transportation and CDL instruction.
- Experience in a transportation setting is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based computer operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Professional, courteous, and have strong customer service and employee relation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.
- Flexible team player with the ability to help in other departments.
