We are looking for a Garden Center Manager to oversee staff and operations of our local business. Manager responsibilities include receiving and merchandising, management of people, and maintenance of live plant material. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive, while ensuring our customers and live plant stock are properly attended to. Ultimately, you’ll help our company grow and thrive.
As this is a retail garden center; we are giving heavy consideration to any candidates with a previous background in the industry; or with pre-existing extensive knowledge about the products and services involved in this industry. The Garden Center Manager should ultimately be one of the best resources for information on our products for both customers and employees alike.

Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations
- Assist the owners with executing their goals and visions
- Set policies and processes
- Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
- Oversee recruitment and training of new employees
- Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
- Direct the employee assessment process
- Properly receive and be responsible for the maintenance of live plant material
- Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations
- Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, customer satisfaction, theft and shrinkage, etc.)
Skills
- Proven experience as a manager or similar management role
- Experience in planning and strategy
- Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, procurement, operations, receiving, accounting, etc.)
- Strong analytical ability
- Excellent communication skills
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Aptitude and experience with regular plant care and maintenance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
