Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. Our diverse and innovative team allows Haskell to serve our clients with multiple project delivery methods including design-build, engineer-procure-construct, fee-for-service, or consulting services. These services allow our team to form a strong rapport with clients, marshalling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. This particular position is with our Government Design team. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects such as command headquarters, training facilites, office buildings, housing facilities, fitness centers, and more. We work collaboratively and strategically with our clients to deliver innovative and sustainable facilities and spaces that support the sensitive, 24/7 nature of their missions.

 

In this role, you will perform design, detailing, and analysis under the supervision of a licensed professional.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Application of Knowledge of Building Systems
    • Effectively applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs under the supervision of, and subject to, final approval by the Licensed Professional
    • Participates in the development of the group and corporate standards committees
  • Design
    • Produces well-organized construction documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards
    • When assigned design-related activities, prepares presentation drawings, and other deliverables as required by the Licensed Professional
    • Maintains orderly work file, and prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence
    • Participates in design reviews with the design team at 30% and 100% on all assigned projects
  • Construction Support
    • Responds to all RFI’s and reviews submittals for compliance in a timely manner
    • Responds promptly when dealing with field requests/issues
  • Project Management
    • Attends project meetings as requested
    • Adheres to established company standards and policies
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
    • Works independently on a variety of projects - from simple to complex, small to large
    • Provides required information in a timely manner, keeping your supervisor apprised as to the progress of the work
    • Produces well-organized construction documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards
  • Professional Development
    • Attends seminars and conferences as necessary to maintain professional competency
    • Provides training to staff from base knowledge and seminars/conference attended
  • Leadership
    • Mentors technicians/senior technicians

Education/Experience:

  • High school degree (technical/associates degree preferred)
  • 5-8 years experience in applicable design work

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Building System Knowledge
    • Knowledge of various building/construction types/complexities
    • Understanding of structural design process from concepts through construction
    • Ability to quickly develop structural
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer Skills
    • Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or Citrix
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Ability to utilize Newforma Programs: Newforma Project Center, Newforma Cloud, Project Teams, Capture, Tasks, and Plans
    • AutoCAD and Revit or other 3D modeling software

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
