MAJOR PURPOSE: To provide nutritional care and education to the residents and/or families, and participate as a decision-making member of the Care Plan Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Clinical Dietetics
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
1. Integrate the food and nutrition aspects of resident care through communication with the medical and nursing staff.
2. Follow OBRA regulations for completing the appropriate section of the Minimum Data Set (MDS).
3. Contributes pertinent information to resident care plans and records appropriate progress notes in the resident's medical record.
4. Provides nutritional counseling to residents and their families.
5. Attends and participates in resident care plan meetings and develops appropriate integrated care plans.
6. Advise physician and nursing supervisor when diet changes or nutritional supplements are necessary.
7. Advise cooks and dietary aides regarding special diets.
8. Ensures that physician diet orders are followed for each resident.
