The Hills

POSTED ON 9/22/2024 CLOSED ON 11/22/2024

What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at The Hills?

Based on your experience, you would love to help build something extraordinary from the ground up. You're ready to be the one who aligns everyone with a restaurant's mission—and even better, you’re eager to make a meaningful impact on the surrounding community. The idea of creating a fine dining restaurant with an incredible guest experience ignites your passion. You aren’t afraid to lead the charge in shaping a restaurant, guiding the team through the challenges and triumphs of launching a new venture. You love to proactively fill in the gaps, make sure tasks are finished, and push the team towards shared goals.

The Hills will be located in the My Kitchen event space. At The Hills, we are creating intentional experiences with food and executing them with exceptional relational service. Our goal is to be the best fine dining establishment in Queens, earning recognition without explicitly stating it. We value authenticity, human connection, and a welcoming atmosphere that’s upscale without being stuffy. Our team is passionate, empathetic, and driven by a love for creating memorable experiences. If this sounds like a team you'd like to be a part of, let's connect.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and cultivate a fine dining experience, prioritizing human connection and a welcoming atmosphere by interacting with guests.
  • Equip the team with the tools and support needed, identifying and addressing gaps and ensuring tasks are finished at the highest standard.
  • Engage in weekly leadership meetings to strategize and guide the restaurant's development.
  • Manage reservations and event scheduling to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and manage employee schedules tailored to the demands of fine dining.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff, fostering a team that embodies our values of relational service and excellence.
  • Oversee sales and service operations, consistently delivering top-tier dining experiences.
Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Restaurant Supervisor or Manager
  • NYC Food Handlers Certificate
  • Ability to work Wednesday through Sunday
  • Fine dining experience is required
  • Experience in a Michelin Star Restaurant is a plus
  • Wine knowledge is a plus
What we bring to the table:
  • A creative fine dining experience done with professional yet personal service
  • Two weeks of PTO
  • 401k
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Flexible Schedule for Family & Personal Time
What you bring to the table:
  • Clear Communication: It’s important to you to keep people on the same page. You thrive as the point person for questions, updates, and other requests as a restaurant launches.
  • Relational Service: You know the success of a restaurant depends on your guest’s experience, so you go the extra mile to make sure their environment is welcoming and attentive. You prefer to engage with your guests than work behind the scenes.
  • Tenacity: When someone hands you an idea or task, you’re ready to make sure it gets done. You proactively take care of needs and issues when you find them. You are willing to support others in getting their work done.
  • Dedication: You don’t see your work as a job. You see it as a mission to be a part of. You put your all into what you do, making sure your team and guests have an exceptional experience. You celebrate wins and persevere through challenges.
