Position Purpose: The Director of Decision Science and Automation role requires critical thought leadership focused on developing analytical processes, tools, and strategy for driving improved performance throughout the supply chain. This role is responsible for managing a large organization that spans a wide-range of functional and technical skillsets by setting a compelling strategic vision for the organization. This role helps to direct large-scale analytical initiatives driving tangible results at meeting and exceeding the supply chain's specific financial targets. The role requires considerable analytical and technical skills while being able to effortlessly use complex analytical processes and then effectively describe those processes to executive audiences.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
30% - Manages, develops, and maintains a large team dedicated to analytics projects throughout numerous elements of the supply chain.
30% - Develops, plans and implements department's goals and objectives; recommends and administers policies and procedures; coordinates department's activities with those of other THD and SC departments.
20% - Establishes short and long range capital plans and executes projects in a timely and fiscally responsible manner with utmost customer satisfaction.
20% - Provides sophisticated and scalable solutions when confronting challenging analytical and technical challenges.
Nature and Scope:
This position reports to Senior Director or Vice President.
This position has 0-4 direct reports.
Environmental Job Requirements: Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Additional Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
Work experience with SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, or comparable database systems.
Expert knowledge in large scale information retrieval and statistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience in data mining, statistical analysis, and/or forecasting.
A Master's degree in Analytics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
Advanced technical skills to retrieve, manipulate, analyze and interpret large amounts of data (>1 billion rows).
Experience managing large analytical/technical teams (>10 associates).
Prior direct experience working within a supply chain doing analytical work.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Critical thinking skills to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions; ability to understand and foresee implications of new information for current and future problems solving.
An unquenchable intellectual curiosity for getting at the underlying story being told within the data.
A deep knowledge in scalable procedure development, data governance models, analytical tools, processes, and methodologies.
Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to persuade, inform, and influence others based on findings. A track record of taking complex results and communicating them in an easily understood way.
A clear and demonstrated ability of articulating a compelling vision for the use of analytics and technology within a Supply Chain organization.
