Ft. of manufacturing space in Rock Falls, IL.

Primary Purpose
Fabrication is the process of building a usable product out of metal. The position of fabricator will be responsible for joining a variety of metal/steel parts with welding methods. A metal fabricator will prepare, weld, and fabricate metal products. This position is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints and manufacturing according to specifications. A variety of materials are used in the fabrication process. As a fabricator, the position requires building and welding.
General Description
The position of fabricator is a skilled labor position. This position requires the fabricator to use hand welding equipment to build metal components and apply appropriate welds and techniques. Fabricators must be able to develop/fit parts and components to blueprint specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Weld components in multiple positions. (MIG)
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, and grind parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Read blueprints (critical) and use weld symbols provided on blueprints.
- Have a basic understanding of weld parameters for different materials and angles.
- Ensures a clean hand-off of good quality product to the next operation.
- General housekeeping of machine and workstation.

Minimum Experience And Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Experience working in an ordinarily noisy, fast-paced, industrial manufacturing environment. Follow written and verbal instructions and details to complete job orders and projects— solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes.
