The Knowledge House’s mission is to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will uplift their communities out of poverty.
The Knowledge House (TKH) approach is to (1) close gaps in the education -to- employment pipeline in underserved Bronx neighborhoods by teaching young adults aged 16 -24 skills to launch careers or ventures in technology, and (2) support links between local youth, tech innovation, and business development that bring positive community impact.
Headquartered in the South Bronx, the poorest congressional district, TKH has served more than 1,900 students. Current core programs include our flagship Intro to
Tech program for novice students and our Advanced Software Development courses for advanced students.

Job Summary:
The Recruitment and Community Engagement Manager is responsible for the admissions process for TKH’s core programs: the Karim Kharbouch Coding
Fellowship and the Innovation Fellowship. The Manager is responsible for executing the outreach, recruitment, selection of students, and identifying wrap around service partners to refer incoming fellows. The Manager supervises a growing team of Community Engagement Specialists who conduct outreach, attend community events, lead info sessions, and screen applicants.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Community Engagement and Outreach (20%)
- Develop and implement a partner engagement and outreach strategy to share TKH’s application with as many jobseekers as possible and identify long-term partners in New York, Newark, Atlanta, and Los Angeles
- Supervise a team of community engagement specialists who throughout the year, attend community events, career fairs, and student network convenings to raise awareness of TKH programs
- Work with Communications Manager to produce promo and social media assets for admissions and secure media appearances to promote the program
- Collaborate with Career Success Manager to leverage alumni referrals and form a TKH Ambassador’s Network
- Support students’ development by identifying wrap-around services partners and reporting on partner leads
- Cultivate and coordinate relationships with our community college partner to identify prospective applicants from within the college system
- Build and maintain relationships with local high schools, community-based organizations and other groups that work with young adults from a full range of local communities to increase the pipeline of interested qualified candidates
Recruitment, Screening, Selection (50%)
- Manage a rigorous outreach and admissions process throughout its entire lifecycle, ensuring targets and benchmarks for recruitment and admissions are achieved each cycle[
- Lead the day-today recruitment efforts for assigned programs, including scheduling and promoting info sessions, tracking application screenings, solidifying applicant assessments, interviews, and enrollment
- Plan and lead info sessions at community and service partner organizations and to the general public to inform and excite potential candidates about our program offerings, coaching community engagement specialist to present info sessions
- Collect, review and score hundreds of applications for annual fellowships, coordinating admissions activities for staff and volunteers to support
- Partner with instructors and alumni to answer applicant questions
Data Management & Administrative Support (30%)
- Analyze and manage data to design and produce regular reports that track, document and measure recruitment progress; make appropriate recommendations for future initiatives based on program needs
- Enter data, manage reports and ensure data integrity within TKH’s applicant database management system
- Develop[ reports to provide monthly updates on recruitment statistics which will inform improvements to the recruitment process
- Track the weekly progress towards recruitment-related goals and report to the
Program Director
- Manage and update a database of community and service partner outreach and applicant tracking
- Think strategically to recognize data and trends and suggest improvements in a start-up environment.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and reports as needed Distribute and collect intake paperwork including media release forms, code of conduct agreements, wellness surveys, etc.
Qualifications and Skills:
You’re an ideal candidate if you are/have:
- 2 years of work experience ideally in a non-profit, education, or youth development environment
- Proficient in Google Drive applications and other apps for work
- Proficiency using Excel and Google Sheets
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proactivity and self-starter
- Calm under pressure, with strong follow through and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong work ethic and commitment to produce high quality work
- Effective communication skills, including clear writing and professional email
- Teamwork, including actively reaching out to colleagues to support or consult on projects and maintains collaborative work environment
The salary range for this role will be between $60K-$75K. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 1.5% 401k match, a monthly tech stipend, and 38 days of paid time off.
