Environmental Technician

Major Duties:

• Industrial Cleaning
• Waste Experience PREFERRED
• Gather samples of different waste streams and take to lab
• Communicate Safety/ OSHA requirements, guidelines, and good practice for ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly atmosphere
• Assist in assessing potential hazards and ability to draft written rescue plan
• Identify and communicate potential hazards to all affected parties
• Determine hazard controls and emergency contingency plans and make recommendations if needed
• Ensure that required safety equipment and PPE is readily available and in good working order
• Follow handling, inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance guidelines for all rescue equipment to be in a constant state of readiness
• Monitor areas for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions
• Assist with emergency First Aid as required
• In case of an accident, assists in locating the patient, assessing any injuries, packaging for extrication, removing the patient from the threatening environment, and turning over to EMS for medical attention and transport
• Assist in assessing both safety and technical rescue risks, readying rescue equipment, and planning practical and effective solutions towards safe working practices
• Ability to be gone up to 14 days or more, travel can be out of state
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary which could be working in the yard helping Landfarm Manager or helping the Transport division.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CDL
• Valid Driver's License with good driving record that meets insurance requirements minimum
• Worked in the Waste Stream field
• Ability to wear respirator
• Ability to perform well under pressure, possess critical thinking skills, and be able to work in tight spaces
• Must be willing to continue training and education throughout employment
• Heavy lifting
• 40 hour Hazwoper training preferred
• Confined Space preferred
• Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as background check

Will train on these certifications:

• First aid and CPR
• Hazwoper training
• MSHA (Mine Safety & Health Administration)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
