JOB SUMMARY FOR RESIDENT ASSISTANT - RA:
We are currently seeking the professional skills of a RA. This position will be responsible for assisting residents with activities for daily living. To provide outstanding resident care, experience in a geriatric setting is preferred with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with residents and personnel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities for RESIDENT ASSISTANT - RA:
- Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident
- Greet residents and escort them to their room
- Introduce resident to his/her roommate
- Inventory and mark the resident’s personal possessions as instructed
- Transport residents as needed
- Answer call lights promptly
- Maintain resident room cleanliness and tidiness
- Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water and within easy reach of resident
- Serve between meal and bedtime snacks as instructed
- Perform after meal care (i.e., remove trays, clean resident’s hands, face, clothing, etc.)
- Round frequently to assist with fall prevention
- Observes and adheres to all facility safety policies and procedures
- Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and helps initiate corrective action
- Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility and shift
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RESIDENT ASSISTANT - RA:
- Must have reliable transportation to work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a team
- Maintain an empathetic attitude
- Possess effective communication skills
- Compassion for the elderly
