SUMMARY: With supervision, assists the Career Education Assistant Principal with the supervision and the implementation of the career education programs.
Accountabilities
Essential Functions:
Equipment Used: Personal computer, copy machine, motor vehicle, instructional and therapeutic material and equipment, adaptive and orthopedic equipment.
Performance Standard: Must assure 100% compliance with health and safety standards at all times, and must fully support each student's program plan.
Work Environment: Multiple indoor and outdoor environments around and off campus, with varying sound, lighting and temperature conditions.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with one daily unpaid ½ hour for meal break. Additional time may be required for job completion. Frequent flex time scheduling occurs. This position follows a 10-month school schedule.

- Provides support to career education program including trouble shooting issues and coordinating schedule and logistics..
- Reports weekly to Assistant Principal.
- Implements and monitors student job placement program:
- - Serves as job coach to assigned students.
- - Identifies and develops possible job opportunities within the community.
- - Assists students in performance of personal hygiene tasks travel skills, and concept development.
- - Transports students to and from job sites.
- - Learns new jobs in order to teach students.
- Completes progress reports.
- Continues professional development.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills And General Abilities
- Basic knowledge of vocational education principles, practices, and procedures, instructional methods such as program implementation and classroom management.
- Basic knowledge of special education principles and practices, and their application to the instruction of students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments including blindness.
- One year of experience in a youth leadership role preferred.
- Ability to push and pull in excess of 100 pounds, and to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Requires a Class "C" driver's license with a driving record compatible with School standards.
- Basic knowledge of orthopedically disabled children including handling, lifting, positioning, and feeding techniques, and use of related equipment.
- Basic knowledge of visual impairment and related materials, i.e. large print and Braille.
- Basic knowledge of emotional disorders and behavior management.
- Basic knowledge of Career Education Programs at MSB.
- Ability to pass school’s defensive driving course.
