POSITION TITLE:  Sous Chef

REPORTS TO:  Executive Chef / Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Peck & Plume at The Mayton Hotel in Cary, NC is excited to grow our culinary team.  We are looking for dedicated, passionate, and creative individuals who excel in a team-oriented environment.  Guided by our Executive Chef Steve Zanini, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the industry's most talented and dedicated service professionals. Experience preferred, passion and commitment a must!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
  • Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.

EDUCATION:
High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL ABILITY:
  • Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed
  • Continuous use of hands and arms
  • Continuous bending, reaching, and twisting
  • Maintains strong personal image and uniform standards
