The MC Hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, bringing an authentic experience to the heart of Montclair, New Jersey for the first time in decades. The 159 room, ground-up development opened in 2019. Complete with restaurant, rooftop bar featuring unparalleled views of Manhattan, and curated lobby market, The MC Hotel serves as a central hub for visitors and residents of Montclair, a city known for the arts and creativity. 
 
The hotel is managed by Aparium Hotel Group founded in 2011 is driven by the belief that all hospitality experiences should be fueled by the poetics of their surroundings, Aparium was born with an intense focus on unearthing the amazing moments unique to every city.  Since its founding, Aparium has grown into a new kind of hotel brand, one that ventures off the beaten path, both geographically and philosophically. WHO YOU ARE?
The Events Manageis responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of event planning and coordination within the hotel. This includes working closely with clients to understand their event needs, ensuring seamless communication between the sales and banquets teams, and managing all event details from start to finish. The role involves attending pre-event and day-of meetings, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and addressing any service issues that may arise. The Events Manager also maintains a professional and welcoming environment for both guests and staff, ensuring that all events meet the hotel's high standards of service and safety. Key responsibilities include managing banquet event orders (BEOs), ensuring timely and accurate billing, and collaborating with various departments to guarantee smooth event operations. 
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO 
  • Client Coordination: Begin working with clients immediately after contract signing to detail all banquet event orders (BEOs), ensuring a clear and thorough understanding of event requirements.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the primary liaison between the sales department and the banquets team, ensuring that all aspects of the banquet event order are executed as planned.
  • BEO Meetings: Attend and actively participate in BEO meetings to align on event details, ensuring everyone is informed and prepared.
  • On-Site Event Support: Attend day-of meetings and events to oversee the execution and ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction.
  • Billing Updates: Update CI with new billing patterns and relevant financial details for smooth transactions.
  • Environment Development: Cultivate and maintain an inviting, professional environment, with an emphasis on exceptional service delivered by a team of dedicated associates.
  • Service Issue Resolution: Proactively identify any service issues and work closely with the food and beverage team to resolve them efficiently.
  • Guest Interaction: Maintain a friendly yet unobtrusive demeanor with all guests, ensuring their experience is positive and seamless.
  • Facility Oversight: Observe daily conditions of meeting spaces, including physical facilities and equipment. Make recommendations for improvements or repairs as necessary.
  • Food & Beverage Expertise: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all food and beverage offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and appropriate service techniques.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure a cohesive team of professionals working together for event success.
  • Workplace Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all associates, maintaining high standards of health and safety compliance.
  • Policy & Procedure Adherence: Maintain complete knowledge of and adhere to all departmental policies, service procedures, and operational fundamentals.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a harmonious and professional working relationship with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments to achieve event goals.
  • Internal Knowledge: Demonstrate excellent knowledge of all hotel departments, ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Preferred two years of experience in an Events Manager role or a similar position at a hotel of similar size and luxury.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • College degree preferred (likely in hospitality, business, or event management).
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a strong ability to interact with clients and provide exceptional experiences.
  • High attention to detail to ensure events run smoothly and meet client expectations.
  • Fluency in English: Exhibit fluency in English, both verbally and non-verbally, for effective communication.
  • Flexible availability to work at different times, including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the schedule of events.
