Summary of Job Description:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Archaeological Manager/THPO or designee to protect Mohegan archaeological, historic and/or cultural resources through field investigations, excavations, archeological interpretation and analysis, preservation and storage of materials and research and reports.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of Mohegan history, artifacts, and culture
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite computer skills
- Ability to work in adverse outdoor conditions such as extreme heat and wetness

Ability to perform essential duties with demands which include:
- Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to make independent and informed decisions on archaeological issues when required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Archaeological field school and laboratory work experience
- Experience with repatriation of funerary objects
- Experience or ability to be trained in working with issues impacted by the National Historic Preservation Act, NAGPRA, ARPA of 1979, and other related Federal and State laws and regulations
- Trained in Section 106 for federal and state statutory requirements or the ability to be trained within one (1) year of employment
- Must be a member of the Mohegan Tribe
- Successful candidate must pass the background check and continue to be eligible for employment in accordance with The Mohegan Tribe’s Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Policy
- No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude or issues of integrity
