What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Planner position at The MX Group?

As a Media Planner you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and optimization of media campaigns. You will work closely with the media team, creative teams, and external partners to ensure that advertising initiatives are delivered effectively and efficiently across various platforms. Your ability to manage timelines, analyze data, and coordinate across multiple teams will be essential to the success of our marketing efforts.
What You'll Do
Media Plan Development
- Be a key participant in all phases of plan development
- Coordination of vendor RFPs & integration into the MPW & overall media plan
- Master Plan Workbook Development: Build MPWs which may include flowchart(s), programmatic & social audiences, plan construction worksheets, and charts/summaries
Media Plan Implementation & Management
- Measurement/Monitoring: Assist with metrics reporting as needed
- Develop templates and processes designed to streamline reporting
- Be adept at putting out the occasional fire
- Run Sheet Development: Build out the media plan run sheets that contain the details of each media placement
- Materials Trafficking: Work closely with Account Management & Creative to ensure that all material needs are communicated in advance. Send final materials directly to vendors. Serve as the intermediary between Account Management & Creative and vendors when there are questions, extension requests, etc.
Budget Management
- Maintain the master media budget tracker used for internal MX reporting and projections
- Track media spend, manage invoices to ensure campaigns stay within budget and assist with preparation of budget reports
What We’re Looking For
- 2 years of experience in media planning, buying, or coordination, preferably within an advertising agency or marketing department
- Experience with digital marketing platforms including:
- SEM: Google Ads, Bing
- Social: LinkedIn, Meta
- Programmatic platforms: StackAdapt
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Workamajig, Asana, Trello)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field
