YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Development Coordinator is an integral part of the Wisconsin chapter’s inclusive, donor-centered philanthropy program and plays an important role to ensure major donor experiences are personalized, meaningful, and fun! The Development Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of administrative and operational activities which support the strategic goals and ensure the organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and smooth function of the Development team.
The Development Coordinator will coordinate team meetings, manage mailings for donor audiences, serve as the first point of contact for questions from members and colleagues, coordinate logistics for special events and field trips, and provide general program and administrative support to development team members. The compensation for this position begins at $52,000 and is commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Development Coordinator is a self-starter, a problem solver, and takes initiative in a fast-paced work environment to facilitate the efficiency and organization of the seven person Wisconsin Development Team. The Development Coordinator provides general administrative support to the team with duties to include handling logistics for special events, preparing personalized thank you letters and other donor correspondence, and coordinating mailings. The Coordinator may have substantial contact with staff, donors, legal and financial professionals. On a daily basis, they will be required to use the Conservancy’s donor database and related technology for donor/constituent management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Coordinate projects with multiple variables and participants and work within a defined timeline.
- Maintain a strong peer network across The Conservancy to improve systems and processes.
- Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience.
- Financial responsibility includes working within a budget, processing invoices and contracting with vendors.
- Provide input for the improvement of existing procedures and programs.
- Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
- Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
- Refer difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
- Work involves infrequent travel and sometimes requires working flexible hours and overtime.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
- Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise interns, volunteers, and/or temporary staff.
- Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience OR equivalent combination.
- Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience building relationships with staff, customers or similar.
- Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience working across teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and perform repetitive data entry tasks.
- Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
- Must have valid driver's license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
- Ability to analyze information for the purpose of coordinating and planning activities and solving problems.
- Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff.
- Experience interpreting guidelines to achieve desired results.
- Experience with databases and spreadsheet software.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of philanthropy.

Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."
