Leadership Coordinator

The Central Texas, North Texas, and Northwest Texas Conferences, pending approval of the Southcentral Jurisdictional Conference in July, will become one Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Joint Conferences announce a search for a Leadership Coordinator for the yet to be named NEW UNIFIED CONFERENCE and invite inquiries and resumes for the position.

The Central Texas, North Texas, and Northwest Texas Conferences have been in conversations since early 2023 to explore the process of unification. Throughout the spring and summer of 2023, Bishop Saenz, along with clergy and lay leaders from all three conferences, worked together on a plan to unify the three conferences. Working together as one body with a unified vision and strategic priorities, the NEW UNIFIED CONFERENCE will be well-positioned to multiply Jesus followers following the widely anticipated adoption of new conference boundaries by the summer of 2024.

The Leadership Coordinator (LC) assists in coordinating the leadership development activities of the New UNIFIED Conference through the Center for Multiplication (Cx). Collaborating closely with the Associate Director for Leadership and the Cx team, this position participates in the Matrix Organizational Structure (MOS) to ensure effective communication and collaboration among teams. The LC coordinates the strategies, initiatives, and programs that engage clergy and lay persons in fostering the effectiveness and multiplication of leaders in local churches, circuits, districts, and conference-wide in a diverse, multi-cultural context.

Primary Roles:

· Implement training programs tailored to clergy, laity, congregations, and ministries reaching diverse mission fields.

· Work collaboratively with teams to coordinate and execute training strategies for multiplication and discipleship initiatives.

· Coordinate training geared specifically to identify and develop potential planters.

· Work with the Associate Director of Leadership to provide and keep up to date resources for current and future planters.

· Coordinate the Simplified Accountability Structure (SAS) process from start to finish including promoting what SAS is, field requests from churches, match churches with coaches, and connect with coaches for follow up.

· Support and equip lay boards and committees in equipping congregations for leadership, governance, and multiplication, including supporting the work of the lay leaders, Lay Servants Ministries, and the Board of Laity.

· Initiate and compile background checks, references sheets, transcripts, and all required documents for candidate credentialing. Maintain credentialing files and continual background checks for clergy and laity, ensuring accuracy and in accordance with established federal and state guidelines and Conference policy.

· Support DCOMs and District Admins for credentialing files, database, and alignment.

· Lead or serve on teams that prepare reports for the Annual Conference Workbook and Journal and other reports or presentations as needed including the Business of the Annual Conference (BAC).

· Compile introduction sheets for interviews.

· Manage department expenses and assist in processing requests for scholarships and Ministerial Education Fund (MEF).

· Maintain a database of contact information for seminary students, potential candidates, and relevant stakeholders including the BOM and UMC General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) with regular communication and updates.

· Prepare Candidate files for the interview teams of the Board of Ministry.

· Lead or serve on teams that provide candidacy support systems to assist the Vocational Discernment Coordinator and the District Administrative Assistants.

· Assist ministerial candidates with the Leadership Coordinator in navigating the candidacy process.

· Process psychological reports from appropriately authorized counselors with notarized releases from candidates. Send to the appropriate specialist, committee chairpersons or Board of Ministry Executive Team.

· Assist Associate Director for Leadership in supporting the needs of the Board of Ordained Ministry (BOM), the Board of Laity (BOL), Lay Servant Ministries (LSM), Certified Lay Ministers (CLMs), Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry (BHECM), and other committees and ministry teams.

Qualifications:

· High School diploma or equivalent is required; bachelor’s degree is preferred.

· Five years related administrative experience and prior experience supporting an executive level individual required.

· Demonstrated ability to serve on diverse teams and navigate diverse working styles and communication preferences.

· Strong attention to detail, professional demeanor, strong verbal, professional written communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Extensive Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Internet applications experience, including creating spreadsheets, data management and project management systems, pulling reports, and executive level presentations, report writing, and business correspondence.

· Ability to work independently and proactively, manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, and initiate follow-ups.

· Fluent in English; Spanish, Korean, and/or other language skills, a plus.

· Demonstrated effectiveness in proactive, professional, courteous, and concise, communication skills that enhance responsiveness through effective, persistent, and determined communications and follow-up.
