What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cocktail Specialist full time position at The Open Bottle?
Tinley Park and Lockport
Objective: to oversee cocktail operations of The Open Bottle at all locations, and assist in creating a unique and elevated cocktail menu that matches our passion and experience for craft beer. Responsible for ensuring that all staff are properly trained where they feel confident and excited about the cocktail program.
Full-time positions are typically 35 to 45 hours per week. Must have daytime, nighttime, and weekend availability, and ability to work at both locations (Tinley Park and Lockport). Compensation is a yearly salary of $35,000 tips and benefits (see below).
- Extensive beer, spirits, cider knowledge. This includes keeping up to date with production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances and trends
- Familiarity and/or willingness to learn about products
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow employees and/or customers
- Proven working experience in customer service
- Basic understanding of beer and cocktails (styles, history, brewing process)
- Proficiency in English
- Track record of over-achieving sales quota
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Cicerone certification(s) preferred
- IL Basset certification required
- Customer service focus
- High school degree; college degree would be preferred
- Follow all “Store Associate” responsibilities
- Create a cocktail beverage program for both locations
- Create house made simple syrups, juices, or other items needed for cocktails
- Ensure necessary cocktail supplies (spirits, juices, garnishes, etc.) are properly stocked and fresh
- Check cocktail ingredient inventory weekly
- Create and send an organized order lists
- Come up with ideas for events, promotions, or incentives around the cocktails
- Develop seasonal cocktail menus (can include a monthly or bi-monthly cocktail)
- Trial cocktails and adding a unique twist to them
- Coordinate with Digital Marketing Specialist to get photos & videos for menu and marketing purposes
- Train staff on cocktails where they feel confident and excited to make cocktails for customers
- Set up a training for staff to attend before a cocktail launch
- Grow the cocktail program yearly
- Handle staff questions regarding the cocktail side of the business
