Qualifications
Job Summary:
Plans and prepares entrees, appetizers, salads, desserts, specialties, or complete menus for the restaurant and other food & beverage outlet. Prepare food for a variety of patrons or events in addition to restaurant meals, such as buffets, parties, snacks, and beverages.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepares a variety of foods according to customers preferences or on instructions of superior, following approved procedures
Cleans and portions, and cuts or peels various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
Prepare food according to the menu, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and the number of persons to be served
Portions and arranges food on serving dishes, trays, and carts
Requisitions food supplies, kitchen equipment and appliances, and other supplies
Inspects and cleans kitchen appliances, and work areas for cleanliness and functional operation
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
Be courteous
Show genuine care for all co-workers and guest(s)
The ability to work well in a team environment
Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset
Able to work without supervision
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
2 or more years experience in related field or successful completion of a course of study (or graduation) from a recognized cooking school or a combination of both experience and education
An open friendly personality
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions

Valid Food Handlers certificate required
Physical Demand Requirements:
Most of the time spent standing, walking or there are some requirements to lift moderate weight (10-20 pounds).

Additionally, the team member will frequently be asked to use hands and arms carry and lift items. Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision and distance vision. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member may experience temperature fluctuations and moderate to high levels of noise. The team member will also come in contact with noxious and abrasive chemicals that must be handled properly to ensure the safety of the team member and others.
