JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching for a Part-Time Facilities Escort to join the Facilities Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the U.S. Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
Escort outside contractors and technical service employees from other work units that are performing work at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) that is technical-service in nature
Serve as a work site liaison with ARL Security to ensure visitor logs and all necessary security paperwork are kept current and reflect maintenance, renovation, or services being performed to buildings, infrastructure, grounds, and/or equipment.
Verify all outside contractors working at ARL are United States citizens and have no electronic and digital devices, per ARL security guidelines
Conduct continuous observations for security and safety concerns, facility damage, etc.; report abnormal behaviors or other unusual observances; document information as directed
Respond to questions and provide general information; correspond with appropriate ARL Facilities contact for resolution of questions, concerns, and other facility or operational issues.
Maintain knowledge of ARL Security practices and procedures
Assist higher graded technical service employees by performing basic labor tasks such as providing "helping
hands" (i.e., team lift, handing/holding tools and parts, helping set-up equipment, and general cleaning of work area)
Operate University vehicles as required
This position is located at the State College, PA location and will be fully onsite.
