TITLE: Loan Operations Assistant
REPORTS TO: Loan Operations Manager
Position Summary
A Loan Operations Assistant is responsible for processing loan documents, maintaining insurance files, completing loan files, filing liens and mortgages, appraisals, and various other administrative duties. This position assists loan officers in the administration of both new and existing loans and will assist customers with questions regarding their loan and resolve routine issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Book loans to the core processor with accuracy and completeness.
- Order and review appraisals for loan officers.
- Review loan files for accuracy in a timely manner and communicate with the loan officers on any items needed for the file.
- Ensure that any insurance required, as a condition of the loan, is in place and is sufficient in amount and type of coverage.
- File and maintain documentation files for security agreements, titles, mortgages, and UCC’s.
- Prepare tickets and disbursement checks for loans.
- Maintain tickler files for missing or pending information.
- Handle all maintenance duties as assigned.
- Pull paid notes/collateral and file for assigned loan officers.
- Scan loan documents to archival system.
- Review previous day loan transactions for errors and make documented efforts to correct any deficiencies as they become apparent.
- Assist customers and answer inquiries, including information regarding loan payments, balances, and pay-off amounts.

Additional Responsibilities
- Performs Teller transactions as needed.
- Keeps abreast of changes in policies and procedures, standards and regulations applicable to the Bank and the lending environment. Understands and applies local, state, and federal regulations related to processing consumer and commercial loans.
- Notarize documents when authorized or required.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Ability to work various schedules and on Saturdays.
- Represents The Peoples Bank at Bank events and in the community.
Educational/Experience Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field.
- One to three years of experience in banking or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education requirement.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service, problem solving, decision-making, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and workload.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality required.
