The Plastek Group is seeking a Training Designer / Program Coordinator for its Hamlet, North Carolina location to develop and manage Divisional training programs. The focus of the Training Coordinator is to create programs and materials for new and existing technical and non-technical roles.
The Training Coordinator will communicate with our management committee to identify areas that need training and create plans to execute that training. They will create and standardize training materials, evaluate the effectiveness of those materials, and update as needed, based on feedback received from management, shift trainers, and the corporate training department. The coordinator will guide, mentor, and counsel shift trainers in troubleshooting training issues that arise on their shifts.
Development & Design
- Conduct needs analyses: gather and evaluate information from employees and management on current training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training. Recommend training materials and methods.
- Create instructional material: courses, presentations, training manuals, job aids, etc. utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office software.
- Ensure learning materials are engaging, interactive, visually appealing, on-brand, and grounded in adult learning theory.
- Design content to optimize learning, redesign content to ensure it matches learners’ needs, update content to reflect changes in policy and/or procedures.
- Collaborate with Coordinator / Designers at other locations to ensure materials are standardized across all Divisions.
- Measure and evaluate the success of programs.
Trainer Support & Coordination
- Assist shift Trainers in setting weekly objectives and priorities.
- Delegate training tasks to shift Trainers and evaluate performance.
- Provide guidance, support, and personal development to shift Trainers.
Personal & Program Development
- Research new training applications that may enhance our training procedures and provide value to employees.
- Attend seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training projects and programs.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent time management, public speaking, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional computer skills (including ability to operate media equipment), solid experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other relevant presentation/design software.
- Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
- Graphic design knowledge and audio/video editing skills
- Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods and techniques
- Exceptional organization skills, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with a team and have attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and assess and analyze data.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel may be needed, including but not limited to Plastek Corporate Headquarters in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology/Design, Communications, or other related field
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- 3 years’ work experience in instructional design, training, or education
- 3 years’ work experience in program/project coordination
