The role of the Special Events and Community Relations Associate is to support the efforts of the Development department through community engagement, relationship building, and direct administrative support to the Director. Consequently, the incumbent coordinates a myriad of program needs, which include working under the administrative direction of the Director of Development and Publications, to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors; serve as primary manager for the Mariann Hoag Scholarship Dinner and MOSAIC Auction, support “The Shops at Roeper”, produce reports as required for and by foundations and endowments; oversee purchasing for the Development department; and serve as Associate Editor of the school magazine.
Role:
  • Manage the event planning and execution of fundraising and community events for up to 500 guests, approximately 15 events each year
  • Volunteer liaison and coordinator for special events
  • Maintain the Director’s schedule and calendar
  • Coordinate all activity related to conferences and travel arrangements for the Director
  • Manage Scholarship and Foundation reporting
  • Provide research into and analysis of major donor prospects
  • Create financial reporting of gifts and quarterly reconciliations
  • Compose fundraising letters with materials for special events programming, package and distribution
  • Assist in researching grant opportunities
  • Act as the Editor Keeping In Touch and the school’s Annual Report
  • Coordinate meetings, including scheduling, and logistical preparation
  • Coordinate and attend periodic evening and weekend special events
  • Oversee purchasing for Development department
  • Represent the Development Department at select school community functions which may occur on evenings and weekends
  • Embrace and assist the Development Department with contributing to the School’s goal to provide a multicultural and culturally relevant program, in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice
Skills:
  • Direct knowledge and/or experience with non-profit auctions
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in database management, non-profit fundraising/relationship management software, and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of fundraising and advancement systems and advancement management procedures
  • Demonstrated competence in records and information management
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with diverse constituents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail in establishing priorities, meeting timelines and efficiently accomplishing duties
  • Ability to form collaborative work relationships and work independently
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A collegial approach and congenial temperament
Preparation
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing or related field and three to five years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
