Position Description
Assists the Receiving Department by performing responsible administrative functions pertaining to receiving of merchandise from external vendors.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Tracking all import inbound containers for delivery date accuracy.
- Create and adhere to an unloading schedule for ocean containers that mitigates additional final mile costs such as rail storage, trucker yard storage, and per diem.
- Track projected variable final mile costs on ocean containers and compare expected costs to actual invoices once received.
- Dispute additional final mile costs as necessary with transportation providers.
- Communicate with management on future forecast of inbound containers in order to properly staff for unloading and put away.
- Communicate effectively with unloading staff to ensure all loads are unloaded by end of day.
- Setting dock appointments for new receiving with external vendors.
- Providing reports on the incoming of new merchandise to the DC manager in a timely and accurate manner.
- Update customer service on incoming merchandise availability in order to fulfill customer orders.
- Maintain daily trailer drop log to ensure all full and empty containers are accounted for in our yard.
- Working with logistics dispatch to ensure that empty containers are picked up in a timely manner.
- Schedule delivery appointments for all domestic carriers.
- Audit accuracy of all inbound receiving purchase orders after all is put away.
- Responsible for printing labels for all incoming merchandise for the following day.
- Audit invoices to ensure accuracy of charges and inform management of any discrepancies.
- Responsible for ordering DC supplies.
- Responsible for accurately labeling new products that have been unloaded.
- Updating inventory with received items.
- Communicating with vendors regarding delays or problems.
- Collaborate with the merchandising department to advise them on a timeline for incoming merchandise.
- Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified.
- Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements.
- Performs additional duties as required or requested.
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse experience.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Good understanding of warehouse safety regulations
- Computer skills and knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs.
- Mostly sedentary work that requires you to sit at a desk most of the day.
