Job Objective:
The Social Services Manager serves the Evansville Corps Service Area (Vanderburgh, Warrick and Posey Counties) under the direction of the Social Services Director. This position will demonstrate Servant Leadership by working with clients to meet their basic needs for food, energy, housing, and transportation, etc. This position will act as Lead case manager and give leadership to case management and assistance programs in the absence of the Social Services Director. This position will work closely to give additional leadership with outreach events and seasonal programming as well as supervise Social Services staff ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
Daily manage the Social Services Receptionist and Case Managers maintaining department coverage and scheduling
Manage small case load of clients, in collaboration with Case Managers
Interview, obtain information, make referrals, screen and record personal and financial data from applicants
Develop a service plan with the client and client family to identify service needs and goals
Distribute utility and housing assistance according to established program policies
Determine eligibility for more comprehensive services and refer when eligible
Promote the opportunity for families to participate in Pathway of Hope (POH)
Identify and utilize community resources that will help clients
Network and communicate with partnering agencies to help coordinate services
Maintain financial guidelines when providing assistance in order to stay within budgeted allotments
Maintain and submit accurate monthly statistics, financial records and reports per Salvation Army guidelines on a monthly basis to Social Services Director
Facilitate and/or coordinate with life skill courses utilizing Bible-based curriculum for financial management, parenting skills, focused group Bible study, and youth development opportunities (character building, church mentorship, etc.)
Meet with direct reports regularly to provide support and ensure holistic care is available for all participants at The Salvation Army and through community partners
Complete all required documentation in an accurate, timely manner using SIMS – Salvation Army Information Management System
Maintain files in accordance with The Salvation Army guidelines
Pick up donations as needed
Maintain an up-to-date log of all in-kind donations
Complete ongoing trainings as they arise
Spearhead innovative opportunities to better serve our clientele
Be actively involved in all Christmas efforts, including the Angel Tree / Toy Shop Program and Toys for Tots
Assist in events and seasonal activities of the corps as requested
Assist in monitoring community population for changes in demographics, interests and needs as it relates to Social Services program growth and sustainability
Other tasks as assigned by leadership
