Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, some college social service coursework preferred.
- Understanding of the delivery of Social Services.
- Ability to accept supervision and work well with clients of diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups.
- Willingness to support the philosophy, goals, and objectives of The Salvation Army.
- Must pass the background checks.
- MN Food Manager’s Certificate and has previous cooking experience and/or food service certification from an accredited program.
- Experience working in food service; food preparation, kitchen equipment and proper sanitation practices.
- Meet the MVR driver’s qualification.
- It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Summary of Position
Prepare meals for clients, ensuring the food is cooked, stored and maintained in accordance with MN Department of Health. To include; connecting with lunch patrons, completing meal planning, and food ordering. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with Lunch Program daily activities, including: food preparation, meal planning, recruiting and providing ongoing support to volunteers, meeting and unloading delivery trucks, serving meals, setup and cleanup.
- Plan and prepare meals in accordance with menus, making allowances for clients medically approved special dietary needs when known in advance.
- Maintain the kitchen and food preparation area to meet the highest standard of cleanliness and in accordance with Department of Health requirements.
- Follow all safety rules and report safety hazards.
- Provide basic information and answer questions regarding Social Services programs.
- Work on personal, office, and department goals.
- Participate in monthly supervision meetings with Team Leader.
- Assist in planning and implementation of seasonal activities as requested.
- Assist with other department functions.
- Attend educational opportunities when appropriate.
- Other duties that are specific to the office location and as assigned by the Team Leader. Actual duties performed may vary widely according to the services offered by the office a staff person is assigned to.
