SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking a Manager, Individual Giving. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Individual Giving, the Manager, Individual Giving will support the operations, fundraising and donor relations associated with the Museum’s Young Collectors Council; Latin American Circle; Middle Eastern Circle; and will support Individual Gifts fundraising. The Manager, Individual Giving will be a strategic fundraiser in the arts and will utilize moves management principles, including prospect identification and cultivation and will develop effective stewardship and solicitation proposals which will align donors with institutional priorities that include advancing our programs as well as DEAI initiatives.
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3-4 years of Development experience and/or experience in a cultural institution environment required.
- Experience with soliciting and securing four- to five-figure gifts and deployment of moves management strategies for pipeline development.
- Key understanding of membership program management, benefit fulfillment, and an emphasis on moves management for enhanced giving.
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment a must.
- Experience developing, planning, and executing donor events/programs for benefit fulfillment, donor cultivation and stewardship with an emphasis on programmatic alignment with departmental fundraising priorities a must.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people within and outside the museum.
- Professionally represent the institution and its programs across a wide range of circumstances.
- Must be personable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Suite: One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work collaboratively with members of the Individual Giving team to achieve and exceed annual fundraising goals, provide support on various ad hoc projects across the Individual Giving department, and support the advancement of the museum’s diversity, equity, access, and inclusion initiatives.
- Develop and manage strategies to maintain existing members and solicit new prospects with the intent to meet and exceed annual financial targets for the Young Collectors Council (YCC), Latin American Circle, Middle Eastern Circle, as well as assisting with Individual Gifts fundraising.
- Oversee the collection and processing of contributions; data management, report generation and stewardship of members, working with the Advancement Operations team to maintain and ensure accuracy of donor records and correlating reports.
- Coordinate and execute seasonal events for aforementioned groups pertaining to their respective tours, meetings with assistance as needed on other Individual Gifts and Affinity Group programs and tasks.
- Work with Assistant Director and members of Membership team, Marketing Department, and McVicker mailhouse on developing YCC renewals, upgrades, and acquisition appeals through direct mail and e-mail.
- Serve as the primary liaison in providing excellent donor stewardship and hospitality to current and prospective members via phone, email, in addition to staffing events to develop and deepen relationships with donors.
- Key support for the fundraising efforts for the annual Young Collectors Council Party with the intent of meeting or exceeding the annual goal.
- Work collaboratively with the Special Events, Corporate, and Curatorial teams by assisting with the planning and implementation of the YCC Party.
- Identify new revenue sources and perform budget and expense tracking, donor research, database maintenance, management of prospect lists, meeting agendas, and other administrative support of the Individual Giving Department.
- Support solicitation letters and proposal materials for Individual Gifts’ fundraising requests, in addition to tracking Individual Gift proposals and ensuring accuracy of proposal records.
- - Manage a portfolio of donors (mostly in the four- to five-figure range) tied to a revenue goal with an emphasis on growing giving capacity beyond annual membership dues.
- Regularly attend museum-wide and art world events as well as plan cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year.
- Assist the Senior Director, Individual Giving and Special Events; Assistant Director, Individual Giving; and Individual Giving team at large with additional stewardship, program management, and other ad hoc projects as requested.
- With support from the Assistant Director, this role will help supervise the Associate Manager, Individual Giving.
WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel (within the metropolitan area or further afield) as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request
- Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with a strong interest in art.

SALARY RANGE: $67,000 – $72,000 Annually
