POSITION DESCRIPTION
The St. James is seeking Swim Instructors to join its Aquatics team at its flagship location in Springfield, VA.

Our flagship development in Springfield, Virginia features a premium health club, celebrity chef-inspired restaurant, premium medi-spa, 20,000 sq. ft. active entertainment center, as well as an indoor field house with FIFA-sized field, two NHL-regulation sized ice rinks, 52-meter Olympic competition pool and much, much more. The St. James allows the whole family to pursue their passions in 30 sports.
The Swim Instructors will support the Director of Swimming at The St. James in instructing in water instruction for athletes ranging from youth to adult ages. A hands-on approach is necessary to effectively manage the quality of experience of our participants and their safety. Should be available on week days afternoons and on weekends. Instructors will have the ability to teaching group and private lessons. This position will report directly to the Director of Swimming at The St. James.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all duties in accordance with Company policies, practices and procedures
- Engage individuals and groups in interactive swim lessons while maintaining a safe environment
- Provides instruction to coach athletes through improved swimming skills and techniques
- Instructors will be teaching group and private lesson instruction
- To create your own personal private lesson schedule through the system we provide
- To communicate professionally with your clients and athletes
- Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers
- Supports the safety of all members, guests and employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED required
- Applicant must have 3 years of experience as a swim instructor/ coach
- Must be available on weekday afternoons and on weekends
- Must be comfortable coaching in and out of the water
- Must be comfortable coaching children and adults
- Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.
- MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A MINIMUM OF 12 HOURS A WEEK preferably on week nights and weekends.
