Location: Sarasota County. Applicants interested in working in counties/cities other than Sarasota County will need to apply for positions advertised for those specific areas on the People First System.
This position is for SunCoast Region Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency, in the Hope Florida Program. Teleworking is not an option. We encourage all interested individuals to apply. Some travel may be required. Facility is a tobacco free environment.
The bi-weekly salary range for this position is $ 1,468.29 - $ 3,111.96.

A Hope Navigator is a professional position in the Office of Economic Self Sufficiency (ESS) responsible for helping clients access a wide variety of services and resources to achieve economic independence. Hope Navigators work with clients to identify and overcome barriers to economic self-sufficiency such as education, transportation and employment.
Work Location: Sarasota county. Teleworking is not an option for this position, but hoteling may be an option.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting a comprehensive, person-centered assessment to identify the customer’s critical needs.
- Acting as a navigator for clients regarding available program services and optional methods to meet the critical need(s) of the customer.
- Identifying and maintaining a working knowledge of available community resources to meet the individual needs of each family and ensures the connection of families to relevant community resources and support.
- Documenting all pertinent information and ensures that all appropriate forms are uploaded into the program data tracking system accurately and timely. Provides follow-up and monitors connections to service delivery. Preparing correspondence, case notes, narratives, technical reports, notifications, and related documents using computer-based applications.
- Assisting families in identifying and applying for appropriate benefits and services, offering referrals to other state agencies and other resources to support individuals and families as necessary. Maintains frequent communication with clients of care navigation, reassesses needs, and completes additional referrals if needed.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- This position requires face to face contact with clients and travel throughout the community in the Circuit 12 area (DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties).
- This position is not eligible for Telecommuting.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent (2 years) of experience in Social Services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field
- Four years of customer service experience
- Bilingual in Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Apply the policies, procedures, and programs governing the agency.
- Communicate effectively both orally and written.
- Enter data accurately into a computerized system.
- Navigate through computer screens, complete and review basic computer documents and other forms.
- Plan and organize caseload to ensure work is completed in accordance with established timelines.
- Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and reports.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, coworkers and community agencies.
- Use computers and related software packages.
- Follow written and oral directions and instructions.
