We are looking for motivated individuals to work at least 15 hours per week, with the opportunity to work up to 30 hours per week. Personal transportation is preferred, although FWC vehicle options are available. The position will run until June 30th, 2023 with the potential to extend to August 30th, 2023. The qualified applicant would be based at the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL, but be supervised from Gainesville, FL. The position requires coordination with Robinson Preserve managers and personal vehicle use.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of personal computer operation, including data entry on spreadsheets, such as Google Forms or Excel; communicate to Robinson Preserve users effectively and diplomatically, including orally administering on-site surveys; communicate survey concerns to supervisor where needed. Ability to learn skills related to vehicle and infrared trail counter systems, including monitoring and maintaining systems on-site; coordinating site data on counter system program. Candidates with the ability to speak to trail users and engage in on-site surveys are highly preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site field research via intercept surveys on a tablet. Intercept surveys include collecting and inputting responses from Robinson Preserve users on either a paper survey or on a tablet. Intercept surveys will require a varied time schedule of up to 5 hours on-site within the workday. Maintain database of completed surveys. Operate and maintain vehicle counters, and infrared trail counters at Robinson Preserve at various locations in the area. Maintain and download counter system data biweekly, including taking manual counts of vehicles and recreationists each week.
This position will primarily be responsible for visitor surveys. We are looking for motivated individuals to work at least 15 hours per week, with the opportunity to work up to 25 hours per week. Personal transportation is preferred, although FWC vehicle options are available. The position will run until June 30th, 2023 with the possibility of extending it to August 30th, 2023. The qualified applicant would be based at the FWRI headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL, but be supervised from Gainesville, FL. The position requires consistent day-time travel to Robinson Preserve, which may require coordination with Robinson Preserve managers and personal vehicle use.
Minimum Qualifications
At least an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in either social or biological sciences.
