JOB SUMMARY: The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all residents and company property. Is responsible for ensuring that all safety and security checks are completed. This position is responsible for reporting suspicious and/or unusual circumstances.

Make scheduled rounds inside and outside of the building to maintain a secure environment.- Schedule and ensure that all fire and disaster drills are conducted for each shift and accurate detailed logs are kept.
- Maintain security records, including and not limited to safety inspections, repair needs of equipment, unusual circumstances and service requests. Ensure that all safety equipment is in good working order.
- Respond to all fire alarms and emergency calls and notify appropriate team members as necessary.
- Has a good working knowledge of all Life Safety Systems
- Maintain daily guard report of shift and provide detail explanation of occurrences and ensures that information shared between shifts is accurate.
- Responsible for ensuring that all guests, team members, residents, vendors etc. enter and exit the community and building through the appropriate entrances and exits and provide appropriate identification as requested.
- Perform light maintenance as needed or requested such as changing light bulbs, unclogging toilets/drains etc.
- Transport residents and/or team members on and/or off of the property as needed or requested.
- Deliver packages to residents and distribute in-house mail.
- Greet residents and guests, assist with luggage and packages and parks and retrieves resident vehicles.
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace, person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality. Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two to three years applicable experience.
- A state issued driver’s license with a driving record clear of infractions as defined by current insurance mandates.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with residents and guests.
- Basic computer skill.
- Must be able to make independent sound decisions on a timely and regular basis. Must have the ability to respond to emergencies in a direct and decisive manner.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:
The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned or make general observations of the community; close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature controlled environment and not substantially exposed to adverse environment conditions and may be routinely exposed to noise, vibration, working hazards such as mechanical equipment, exposure to heat, exposure to chemicals, work in close quarters, narrow aisles or passage ways, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors and a variety of pets.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
