Applications Engineering Manager
- Leads and motivates the Application Engineering team supporting belt customers
- Aligns resources to opportunities and as appropriate for the strategies of the belt business
- Ensures the responsiveness of the team to customer related requests
- Ensures the team is trained in the use of analysis tools and all aspects of belt design to appropriately consult with the customer on the right products for their need
- Responsible for managing the expense budget for the group which is largely related to travel and entertainment.
- Ensures the team complies with Timken policies on ethics and integrity
- Assures the team is engaged in problem solving and corrective action for customer quality and/or performance concerns.
- Provides input to the development team on product deficiencies and/or functional needs as communicated through informal and formal customer communications
- Stays abreast of competitive activities and offerings in the market.
- Works with customer and sales as necessary to support the Applications Engineers in resolution of issues.
- Strong leadership skills
- Able to think at a strategic level and provide input to the strategic planning process
- Works well cross functionally and in a team environment
- Good engineering skills and understanding of products and their applications
- Organized
- Capable of building business case for new opportunities
- Broad Familiarity with manufacturing processes. Belt/Rubber knowledge is preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles or other Continuous Improvement programs.
- Management experience 1-3 years preferred.
- Engineering Experience 7-10 years preferred.
