Housing and Residence Life: The mission of the Department of Housing and Residence Life is to provide residents with safe, inclusive housing communities that foster student success through innovative living and learning opportunities. HRL is a large complex department that employs approximately 350staff and oversees 12 residential communities that house approximately 8,000 residents. The Opportunity: The Associate Director will provide strategic leadership and direction in the delivery of a range of programs and services designed to enhance the educational and co-curricular experiences of residential students living in University Housing. The Associate Director provides supervision to Assistant Directors of Residence Life and Education and leads departmental efforts in either Staff Selection or Staff Training as well as combination of departmental cornerstone elements including but not limited to human resources and development, operations, programming, advising, and campus partnerships. UCF is seeking to fill multiple roles. Candidates for this job posting will be considered for additional vacancies in this department. Responsibilities: Support the Director of Residence Life and Education with developing, and implementing departmental vision, mission, and goals. (developing, updating, and maintaining manuals, execution and review of departmental assessment efforts including processes and programs that are intentionally designed to promote student safety, learning, and contribute to retention, and student success). Supervise 3-5 Assistant Directors who oversee residential communities and collateral areas such as: residential engagement, student conduct, staff training, staff selection and recruitment, student leadership, budget, and management. Prepare and submit data for monthly, annual, and emergency reports. Collaborate with offices in the Division of Student Success and Well-Being to enhance the student experience, further program development and supports university retention; infuse the divisional and departmental emphasis on support and engagement throughout all policies, procedures, operations and training within Residence Life and Education. Serve in an on-call schedule providing direct support to staff and assist with overseeing and providing guidance for the residence life 24 hour (professional, graduate, and student staff) on-call coverage system and resources. Assist with developing, disseminating, and training on all standard operating procedures and the operational calendar for Residence Life and Education. Assist with planning and executing opening and closings of the residence hall facilities related to the start and end of each semester, during holiday periods, and special events. Assist with preparing agenda, coordinating with invited guests, and facilitating weekly meetings with Residence Life leadership. Serve on internal and external committees representing the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Support the Director of Residence Life and Education and community staff during critical and crisis events and developing after action reports. Serve as a point of contact for escalating, sensitive and high-level complaints that require guardian or parental follow-up. Is considered an essential staff member in an emergency event. Assist with developing and managing the Residence Life and Education budget of approximately $300,000. Serve on the University Emergency Management Team. Provides leadership to residence life staff members in crisis situations. All other duties assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's and 6 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience with at least 2 year(s) of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree 6 years of full-time, progressively responsible higher education supervisory/leadership experience within student housing operations and residential life, or the equivalent, is preferred, with three years in a leadership/management role. Experience in the development, implementation, and review of a residential curriculum. Experience working collaboratively with campus offices and departments. Experience with converting qualitative and quantitative data into executive summaries and visual presentations. Experience with assessment data programs (i.e. Qualtrics and SPSS). Ability to interpret an extensive variety of surveys, reports and data and provide summary reports. Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written skills.
