The Opportunity: The general responsibilities of the Laboratory Coordinator I include coordinating the operations of the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) teaching laboratory (HS2 237) by maintaining all clinical instruments, coordinating inventory of necessary supplies, and keeping the space compliant with all EH&S requirements. Responsibilities: The job duties required to be performed by this position includes the following: Order and prepare reagents, microbiological media, instrumentation, supplies, and samples needed as requested by MLS Faculty teaching in the space. Coordinate and track of inventory of supplies and consumables while maintaining stock cultures of microorganisms used for teaching purposes in HS2 237. Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on the clinical laboratory equipment and instrumentation present in HS2 237. Collaborate with MLS faculty to bring high-quality laboratory experience by providing guidance to students on laboratory techniques, phelebotomy, microscopic work, instrumentation use, and interpretation of test results in MLS laboratory courses. Verify compliance with Environmental Health and Safety policies related to a BSL-2 laboratory under the oversight of the MLS program director. Serve as a point of contact for vendors who provide equipment and consumables to the MLS teaching laboratory. Complete required annual trainings on chemical hygiene, biosafety, and blood borne pathogens in a timely manner. Complete university and college required trainings and updates in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Prefer candidates with any of the following: Master's Degree. Experience working with moderate or high complexity medical laboratory assays. Experience working in a laboratory environment that tests blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
