We are looking for a highly experienced Controller to join our team in gorgeous San Francisco! The role of the Controller will center on managing the financial operations of our organization to ensure compliant, effective, and accurate financial reporting.

This company has a great number of independent veterinary hospitals, many of which have significantly grown since acquisition or opening. They are highly profitable and well-positioned for more growth with strong support from the ownership team.
Your personal role will advance and grow as they are in the process of integrating cutting-edge systems that align with their ambitious expansion strategy. As the Controller, you are a key figure that will be orchestrating the seamless collaboration between the accounting team and the successful integration of these state-of-the-art systems.
You must have experience in multi-site management, as well as know how to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP (including P&L), keep a maintenance chart of accounts, have AP/AR oversight, have vendor and COGS management, and assist in prepping and filing tax returns. You’ll need to be comfortable authorizing large wires and ACHs for animal hospitals, approving large payables, signing checks, and expertly forecasting financial and data analytics.
It's essential that you work well with all members of the management team as needed to complete financial analysis to facilitate business decisions for EBITDA improvement and the overall cost efficiency of each hospital.
You will implement an ERP system (Sage or NetSuite) along with other systems to scale the finance department and manage growth efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 10 years experience in finance or accounting
- CPA strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Expert in QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or Oracle NetSuite; implementation experience preferred
- Strong Balance Sheet reconciliations experience
- Compensation and Benefits Accounting experience
- Experience in a veterinary or medical field preferred but not critical, need small business accounting
- Experience with EzyVet, Cornerstone, or other Practice Management software is a plus
- Self-starter comfortable working in a thriving, evolving environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills are key
