Starting annual salary $55,484 commensurate with experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Grants Officer will work closely with the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations and the Director of Grants and Program Development to research, draft narratives, and provide accurate reporting details on public and private grant opportunities. This position will also provide support when needed on other funding application components. As a member of the Development Team, the Officer will engage in other functions such as drafting or proofreading documents like the annual report, mailings, and special events collateral. They will also be expected to help run various events throughout the year that may include occasional nights and weekends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writes clear and concise narrative critical to the success of specific grant opportunities.
  • Assists with collecting information through interviews desk research, and other means to support funding proposals.
  • Formats a variety of documents and data to support grant applications and reports.
  • Helps research new grant and sponsorship opportunities that align with The Village’s mission.
  • Meets all grant reports deadlines, as well as tracks results.
  • Proofreads when needed on collateral materials for the department.
  • Provides input and support to other projects of the Advancement department, including donor appeals, written communications, presentations to donors, and special projects.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience required.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two to three years of demonstrated success in non-profit grant writing. Experience working in a non-profit Development office environment preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communicator, with strong writing, editing, numeracy, and proofreading skills.
  • Accomplished project manager with meticulous attention to detail and excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including ability to collaborate comfortably across departments and a high tolerance for shifts in priorities and needs.
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities, incorporating cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel with pivot table functionality, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, small team environment.
