Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities
The Active Life Coordinator is a valuable team member of our Active Life Program, which provides our residents with supportive and person-centered social connections to inspire joy, meaningful interactions, and life fulfillment.
The Active Life Coordinator, under the guidance of the Active Life Manager, helps develop and execute engaging and purposeful programming to help achieve o ur Mission of creating a sense of community where residents and team members THRIVE.
Some of the elements of our Active Life Program include Physical Wellbeing, Creative Arts, Social Connections, Waters Academy, Integrated & Spiritual Therapies and Music & Arts Enrichment.
- Practices presence with residents and families
- Under the supervision of the Active Life Manager, conducts activities to increase the functional ability of Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care residents to include :
- Leading various fitness programs for large or small groups, or one to one to increase strength, flexibility and balance, while remaining cognizant of senior needs and challenges
- Planning / leading social programming to stimulate cognition, intellectual pursuits, life purpose, and peer connectedness, as well as social relaxation
- Flexibility to work irregular hours / schedule, dependent on the needs of the residents and community, as appropriate
- Assists Active Life Manager in planning / creating community activities calendars
- Supports the Waters Ambassador Program by engaging resident ambassadors in purposeful activities
- Assists with room preparation and set-up in partnership with Environmental Services to accommodate planned activities for individuals or groups
- Maintains a high standard of professionalism in appearance and mannerism, as a representative of The Waters community and brand
- Completes all training programs by assigned due date(s)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Previous experience working with seniors and / or experience in memory care, recreational therapy, education, hospitality, or related areas preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possesses compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
- Ability to work effectively and independently, as well as part of a team
- Ability to complete program related tasks on time
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend / evenings / holiday hours
- Provides strong customer service orientation
- Communicates effectively with residents and their family members
- Thinks critically to effectively solve problems
- Practices a person-centered approach to helping seniors THRIVE in The Waters environment
- Maintains positivity, enthusiasm, and energy
- Proficient with technology, and has the aptitude to learn and use systems and resources like Touchtown, Activity Connection, Wondrium, as well as accessing resources on The Waters portal
