The Western Stock Show Association d/b/a National Western Stock Show (WSSA/NWSS) is in search of a qualified candidate to join our Information Technologies & Telecommunications Department as an IT Coordinator!  
 

Overview

Working under the direction of the Senior Director of IT & Telecommunications, the IT Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining our complex’s network and technology while providing quality services to our employees, event promoters, vendors, and guests. Primary responsibilities will include setting up and tearing down IT services for all complex events and Stock Show, assisting NW departments on special IT needs (i.e., internet connectivity, laptops, Zoom set-up) and all computer/phone/printer issues, completing PC updates and installs as necessary, and maintaining network security by updating codes/passwords in accordance with policy. 


The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science and/or information technologies; ideally through formal training or IT support positions. To thrive in this position, candidates must have a keen attention to detail, strong multitasking ability, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. 


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, routers, bridges, switches, modems, cabling, and Internet service providers. 
  • Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems; coordinates repairs with preferred vendors when necessary. 
  • Establishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed. Trains users on software and equipment usage.
  • Provides users with network technical support. Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access of network resources. 
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots basic phone and DSL technical problems or issues. 
  • Reviews and discusses service order requirements and equipment requests with customers, evaluating customers’ telecommunication needs and suggesting additional/alternative service as appropriate. 
  • Connects, disconnects, removes, rearranges, and maintains wires for telephone and DSL lines. 
  • Monitors PBX system performance, assuring dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications. 
  • Performs preventative and routine maintenance; corrects alarm conditions on PBX. 
  • Sets up new users and relocates existing users with telephone extensions, calling features, voice mails, and access codes. 
  • Reviews telecommunication billings to ensure that the Complex is paying the proper amounts for services, repairs, and technical assistance that are required to maintain its communication platforms.
  • Monitors Egnyte Storage utilization and duplications of files to ensure proper allocation of storage is compatible with our current configuration. 
  • Monitors and maintains the utilization of S-3 Storage. Promotes the movement of all video and photo data to be moved to this location. 
  • Monitors, maintains, and provides access onto the Adtran ProCloud Wireless System, including frequent removals of subscribers, changing access passwords, and periodic rebooting of the system’s local campus. 
  • Manages and directs the organization toward its primary technological objectives based on long-term product and profitability goals established with the Senior Director of IT & Telecommunications and the Senior Leadership Team. 
  • Dispenses advice, guidance, directions, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures consistent with established policies and approvals. 
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the organization. 
  • Oversees planning and implementation of all business information systems (i.e., sales, customer operations, and internal communications).
  • Explores new technologies for future planning and potential implementation.

Skills & Abilities 

  • 1-2 years on-site technical support experience. 
  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT strongly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to detect and handle fundamental IT problems. 
  • Familiarity with Nortel CS10000, Nortel TM 4.0, Nortel Call Pilot 2.02i, and AdTran Total Access systems strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects & priorities with a high degree of detail against short deadlines.
  • Achievement-oriented and confident.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative.

Physical Demands

National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, rain, and on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights, and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment.
 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 25 pounds.
 

Scheduling Requirements

While this position will have some set hours, schedules are likely to change on a regular basis based on the needs of upcoming shows. Early mornings, late nights, and weekends are all to be expected. Candidates must have open availability and be willing to work at various hours to complete the primary functions of this role. 


Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time. 


Pay Range & Benefits

  • This is a full-time hourly position.
  • Compensation for this position will range from $22.00 to $24.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • Full-time employees qualify for partial paid medical, dental, vision, and life for employee; family coverage is available at group rates.
  • 100% paid long term disability.
  • Paid  sick leave and vacation time.
  • Upon meeting plan qualifications, a competitive 401(k) retirement plan is available.
