GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY
The Drug Product Division - North America (DPD-NA) is one of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group (PSG). We are made up of approximately 4400 colleagues across six sites who specialize in taking sterile injectable and oral solid dose drug products from development to commercialization.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Steriles Business is part of a Site Leadership team at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s largest PSG Manufacturing site. This leader will be responsible for operation of the Steriles Business Unit. Revenue of business unit is at $600M and continuing to grow. Will have direct accountability for ensuring profitable growth is achieved through establishing excellence in operations and positive relationships to deliver best-in-class product and services to the clients we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to assigned staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; establishing relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving strategic business goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and crafting a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
- Leads, plans, runs, and coordinates activities critical to providing products that meet quality specifications and are produced at optimum production cost.
- Ensures accurate response and methods are used on all situations that may occur to minimize downtime.
- Ensures all production operations and equipment are controlled, validated, and in regulatory compliance and appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and batch record documents exist and are followed and reviewed regularly.
- Leads to budget targets while providing production with adequate resources in facilities, equipment, and personnel to meet demand as laid out in production schedules and plans. Evaluates production efficiencies, variances, and procedures on a continuous basis for process improvement. Has full P/L responsibility for the business.
- Accounts for ensuring Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) compliance of manufacturing operations to include operating procedures.
- Supports development and drive implementation of strategic plans that will grow the business with existing customers and potential new customers.
- Supports planning for the company by identifying capital needs, efficiency improvements, and long-term growth plans based upon the company’s financial objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related physical science preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and applicable work experience may be considered.
- Typically requires 12 years of progressive experience in manufacturing of sterile products in a cGMP environment
- 5 years in a leadership role responsible for setting strategy
- Experience leading a revenue stream of $200 million or greater
- Experience working directly with clients
- Cross functional business sense including Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial to drive Customer Experience and a dedication to excellence
- Understanding of levers to impact key performance indicators
- Authority in pharmaceutical manufacturing of Steriles Product
- Proven leadership of a large-scale bio-manufacturing operations in a highly regulated environment, operating multi-product facilities, and leading large matrixed teams
- Confirmed history of success thru leadership of others
- Senior-level experience managing relationships and outcomes aligned to deliver on operational plans
