Field Service Engineer, Apprentice - supporting LPD (Laboratory Products Division)
As a Field Engineer Apprentice, you will perform various instrument service processes and procedures including solving issues, implementing repairs, and completing preventive maintenance to drive customer satisfaction and ensure accurate functionality of medical and laboratory instrumentation.

In this role, the Field Service Apprentice will respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, perform repair and planned maintenance (PM) on sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and equipment to drive customer happiness through Service Excellence.
What will you do?
- Under supervision, the selected Apprentice will evaluate basic customer equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), inspections, and maintain effective customer relations.
- Maintain daily communications with customers as advised, to ensure resolution and accurate follow-up, leading to customer happiness.
- Will assist more experienced engineers with progressive repairs and resolution. Work as a member of a team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory.
- Ensure accurate care of spares, tools, and test equipment and ensure calibration. Improve and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding the safe and effective use of medical equipment formal instruction.
- Meet Environment Health and Safety requirements.
How will you get there?
- Bachelor’s degree in Bio Medical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience. Military or trade school equivalency will be considered.
- Computer Science background or electronics A Certification is a plus.
- 0-2 years of experience in engineering.
- Knowledge and experience working with centrifuges, incubators, cold storage, and/or smart-connected services and medical devices is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with computer technology including but not limited to, Microsoft Suites, hardware and software applications, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with Customer Service is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours including ~25% overnight travel and 75% day-travel to service customers.
- Proficiency in fixing, testing, repairing, and servicing technical equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English is preferred.
- Professional capacities in communication, self-motivation, collaborative and independent work, leadership, and social skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be willing to relocate upon completion of the 12-month apprentice program, if required.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range estimated for this position is $26.00 - 37.00/hr. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
