Job Title: Power BI Developer
Location: Carlsbad, CA - Remote
What will you do?
- Work with department leaders to establish Key Performance Indicators and methods of dashboard that present relevant and useful data.
- Be responsible for the diagnosis and support of Power BI reporting solutions, including investigation of data issues, data validation, scalability, balancing and row level security implementation
- Design new Power BI Dashboard and SSAS cube solutions from requirements and from an understanding of organizational business needs.
- Create and deliver standards on defining, crafting, and documenting reference PBI architecture
- Develop Hierarchy SSAS model to allow advanced drill-through capabilities.
- Use SSAS, Power BI and Excel: Pivot Table, Power Query, Power Pivot, and Data Models to capture information from various sources and deliver information to the end user.
- Act as a Power BI, visualization, and dash-boarding domain expert
- Through Power BI software development activities and collective understanding of the enterprise-wide business needs, promote the use of self-service products.
- Define and document standard processes for dashboards and self-service reporting tools.
- Perform unit and integration test, participate in report validation and QA of reporting and data analytics.
- Dedicated to creating quality reports and applications and accountable for doing whatever is vital towards that end.
- Collaborate and technically mentor other developers and analysts for successful project delivery
How will you get here?
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalently technical disciplines; years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 5 years of working experience in delivering Power BI solutions.
- 4 years if extensive experience with SSAS Tabular and DAX
- Knowledge of MDX, M Query and Power Query
- 4 years of experience in building dashboards using Microsoft Power BI
- In-depth knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server
- Extensive experience with SSAS tabular model security, Partition and automation process.
- Strong database Analysis skill using SQL
- Expertise in using advance level calculations on the data set with experience in handling multi-million data sets
- Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts, relational database design and data modeling
- Good communication skills and should be focus on details on data analysis and mapping
- Look beyond the detailed requirements to understand what the business is trying to do / don’t get lost in the details
- Develop and maintain documentation to our standards / provide feedback on standards where they can be improved
- Familiar with Cognos Analytics is preferred.
- Experience in Power BI data analytics & visualizations against Data lake and Oracle DWs
- Experience in Oracle, SQL Server or AWS Redshift, AWS S3 type databases
- Experience in Microsoft SSAS Multidimensional and SSAS Tabular Models.
- Knowledge in Python and common python libraries.
- Strong analytical experience with database in writing complex queries, query optimization, debugging, user defined functions, views, indexes etc.
- Knowledge with source control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins build and continuous integration tools.
- Knowledge of using JIRA for Project related activities
