At Fisher BioServices, we specialize in the management of critical biological materials in support for the advancement of cell therapy, high value biologics, and population-based public health research. We provide customized end-to-end chain of custody solutions for our large pharmaceutical clients and partners in academia and government, ensuring the integrity and efficacy of their valued material from the manufacturer to the bedside.

The successful incumbent will drive successful safety, quality and delivery metrics through employee development of the non-exempt repository staff and through continuous improvement efforts by mentoring, training and leading lean repository events to support client clinical trials. Fill voids in staffing resources and responsibilities to meet changing operational demands. Assist in the day-to-day operations of the department. Other duties will include maintaining accurate inventory and locations while keeping them clean and organized. Promote the importance of inventory accuracy and aid all other coworkers in all inventory movements. Assist and coordinate activities of employees engaged in receiving, transporting, order processing, and shipping. Lead tier meeting discussions and engage employees feedback during the tier meetings.
- Responsible for meeting operational fiscal requirements for current business activities.
- Focus on leading the operational team with a focus on Quality, Operational, and Facilities compliance using our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all client requests are followed to meet various timelines. Provide timelines to clients as required during monthly meetings.
- Flexibility to support commercial repository operations staff.
- May be on-call several weeks a year to respond to emergencies in the facilities.
- Interact with clients and Project Managers to assist in customer service requirements.
- Assures various operational documentation is complete and accurate for various processes.
- Responsible for regulatory compliance including OSHA, accident reporting, and ensuring compliance to cGMP standards.
- Ensures all employees follow safety guidelines and are fully trained.
- Works closely with site management to develop and implement training programs for site Operations.
- Conducts fair and accurate performance reviews on time, orientation training, and provides periodic feedback and mentoring on performance.
- Back up to other department leaders and Operations leaders required arises.
- Works closely across facilities to share resources.
- Supervises all Operations Technicians in the facility.
- Identifies development opportunities for employees based on their needs, motivations, and business requirements
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Degree in a science field preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of dynamic experience in a repository/distribution environment.
- 2 year(s) of previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to give presentations internally and externally.
- Requires knowledgeable experience in dealing with methods in handling, processing, and storing specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system.
- Must have high level of integrity and reliability, as database and inventory management are key expectations of the position
- Core Hours 8AM to 5PM, additional hours as required.
- Ability to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and push up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to process and handle materials frozen on dry ice (-78°C) or liquid nitrogen (-195°C).
- Ability to work in walk-in freezers or refrigerators periodically for up to 5 hour per day.
