Full-Time Master Level Therapist

Responsible to:           Assistant Director of Behavioral Health

Job Summary:

Master Level Therapist:  The Master Level Therapist position is a non-exempt position.  This position is for a person in the social services, clinical or medical field.  This position provides direct services and case management to clients and clients at the residential facilities, in their homes, or other locations.  The individual position is responsible for notes for third-party billing.  The individual provides group, individual, and client therapy to program clients.  The individual develops, monitors, and reviews treatment plans, and maintains required clinical documentation for third-party billing.  The individual assists clients in identifying their strengths and needs and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the treatment plan.  The individual is available for referral sources and clients during times of crisis.  The individual is responsible for and will bill for hours maintained.

Job Status:  Full-Time, Non-Exempt 

Primary Functions:

  1. Provides group, individual, and client therapy to program clients.
  2. Develops, monitors, and reviews treatment plans based on clinical necessity agency policy and state regulations.
  3. Conducts initial interviews, complete psychosocial histories, and develops discharge and aftercare plans with clients. 
  4. Plans and coordinates program services and activities provided to the client by team members and refers client members for additional services through community resources.
  5. Response to initial referral and subsequent crisis for assigned clients.
  6. Responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the treatment process for individual clients on the unit(s) they are assigned.  Administers and interprets various assessments with clients as necessary.  Responsible for the development of treatment plans as required.
  7. Responsible for provision of individual and group psychotherapeutic services for clients, and individual therapy for the clients to whom they are assigned, in accordance with the treatment plan.
  8. Serves as the agency’s primary liaison to outside individuals and agencies involved in, or necessary for, the treatment of clients to whom they are assigned.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains contact with referral agencies and other service providers.
  2. Serves as a therapist to assigned clients.  Maintains client records according to program standards and expectations.  Ensures client records are complete are regarding regulatory requirements and that all documentations are present and clear. 
  3. On an as-needed basis may be required to attend court hearings.
  4. Conducts follow- up with discharged clients at 30, 60, and 90-day intervals.
  5. Provides consultation to the coordinator, team, and individual staff of the assigned unit(s), concerning treatment needs and strategies regarding the clients and clients, and for the development and monitoring of a therapeutic environment.
  6. Schedules and facilitates meetings with clients, parents, and other services providers. 
  7. Responsible for 25 training hours per year.
  8. Attends and participates in supervision meetings weekly.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; sit, and walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; the employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 

Proper diction and command of the English language is required.  Individuals must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances.  Reliable transportation is necessary for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master Level Professional is necessary for this position.  A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in the social services as well as two years’ experience in therapeutic work with clients or adolescents is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge and understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, client systems, and psychodynamic theory is necessary.  Verbal and written communication skills and individual and group counseling is required. Individuals must have a valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation.
