What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef position at Thyme?
Thyme, a new, chef-driven restaurant concept in Sweetwater TN, is looking for a person that has the ambition, creativity and passion to assist in creating a place for people in the area to experience something a little different.
Not being a fan of fads, I’m not necessarily a fan of the Farm to Table term. I think it can leave certain people to feel shut out of the possibility of the experience, but I am a HUGE fan of people driven, honest, whole food that is minimally processed and allows the person who is eating it to feel true satisfaction and happiness at a price that tries to allow everyone to enjoy the experience.
One of the positions I am in need of is a Chef who is willing to contribute to open collaboration on a menu that represents the values stated above. I would love to open this opportunity to someone who is new to the field, someone who has always dreamed of being in a position like this but has never found the opportunity, or someone who is experienced in the kitchen environment. Of course experience is a plus and in applying for the position you will have to show an aptitude for the process, but I’m willing to keep my mind open to learning on the job, just remember that that can easily turn into baptism by fire so you will need to be ready.
Now don’t think that this unusual job posting means I’m open to a willy-nilly process, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
While I may be unconventional I am educated, experienced and know what I am looking for. My expectations are high but specific, you will always know what I want, but I will always listen to what you think.
Some general specifics of the position are....
- Plan and execute menus, ensuring high-quality and delicious meals are prepared
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation, including cooking, plating, and presentation

These are some of the requirements of the job. Catering preparation will also be included.
