What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Operations Data Analyst position at TIAA?

This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA's family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

This role will sit onsite, likely in a hybrid capacity, at the location(s) listed in this posting.

The anticipated term of this engagement will be 12 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.

CW-IT Business Systems Analyst III

The Senior Business Systems Analyst analyzes business and information needs in order to design optimal systems solutions. Working under minimal supervision, this job designs system solutions that are appropriate for business needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture. This job also recommends improvements to the existing IT systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identifies and analyzes business needs, conducts requirement gathering, and defines scope and objectives of each project.
  • Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology.
  • Translates business requirements into application requirements, and works with all members of the team to execute the application successfully.
  • Engages client teams and explains moderately complex initiatives in an understandable manner, while also addressing any hesitations or concerns from the client.
  • Estimates the costs of various system solutions and prepares project plans to provide input into decisions about prioritizing projects and allocating IT resources.
  • Prepares and maintains technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

This role is a hybrid role requiring the candidate to be in the office three days a week. Locations include: Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Iselin, NJ, Minneapolis, MN.

Business Analyst

  • Collect, organize and analyze data, including ability to summarize findings, develop conclusions and provide recommendations
  • Obtain, interpret and assess end user needs; making recommendations about and guiding the implementation of new or re-designed business processes and procedures
  • Document artifacts (business and/or technical requirements) for related projects, ETL and report changes related to RAE

Data Quality

  • Identify data issues utilizing quality reports to perform exception management analysis
  • Utilize an issues log to track and manage data exceptions across various data domains and data sets impacting RAE
  • Document root cause analysis
  • Lead working calls with internal stakeholders to discuss, review and close out outstanding data issues
  • Triage exception management issues with internal/end users to determine severity
  • Manage stakeholder communications related to issues identified in RAE
  • General administrative support including setting up meetings, creating agendas and providing minutes

Required Skills:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience serving in a data analyst or business analyst role
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Competent with VBA for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
  • Ability to translate technical terms into business user language, and communicate with both business users and technology team members at multiple levels of the organization
  • Experience documenting business processes, data requirements, data flows, standard operating procedures and service level agreements
  • High attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must operate independently, use of critical thinking skills and good judgment

Preferred Skills:

Some or all of the following skills would be advantageous

  • Experience in the Investment Management industry
  • Experience with Portfolio Accounting, Pricing Master, Order Management, Trade Processing, and Bank Loan Systems: (Geneva, Paladyne, Bloomberg AIM, Wall Street Office)
  • Thorough knowledge of the bank loan market
  • Strong understanding of operational risks and controls
  • Knowledge and understanding of performance measurement and portfolio analytics

Base Pay Range: $52.30/hr. - $54.16/hr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
