Job Title: Design Engineer

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer assists in the development of detailed interior, exterior, Mechanical, Electrical and/or Structural plans for new models to meet product requirements and customer expectations based on defined standards and options. The role would involve supporting the design and documentation of marine vessel parts, sourcing unique components and supporting the construction of preproduction boats.Serves as a designer and engineer in developing detailed designs and product specifications from concept to launch phases on major new product introductions and/or major upgrades on existing product. The role would involve designing and documenting marine vessel assemblies, sourcing unique components and provide direction in the construction of preproduction boats.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support the generation and maintenance of detailed boat interior and/or exterior part and assembly CAD models from standard and optional equipment specifications to meet NMMA/ABYC/USCG and other applicable standards, as well as ensuring customer expectations are met.
• Assist in the administration process of productionizing new product designs and refining existing product designs.  
• Support the creation of appropriate engineering drawings and specifications to source and acquire components from both inside and outside sources that will be used in the construction of new models.
• Assist in loading and maintaining the product BOM ensuring accuracy, on time completion and alignment with product requirements and cost targets.
• Assist in meeting project targets for material cost, labor, weight, and schedule.
• Design, document and advise in the construction of new vessel interior units and/or exterior assemblies including interfaces with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Responsible for coordinating with Documentation Technician(s) to assure accurate and complete work instructions.
• Participate in the resolution of Corrective Action Reports and the processing of Engineering Change activities.

Education & Job Requirements

Skills Required:

• Demonstrated competence in 3D drawing and CAD software, specifically SolidWorks and/or Rhino 3D.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
• BS Engineering, Design or equivalent degree from accredited college
• 2 Years’ experience preferred in relevant Design or Engineering role.
• Must possess strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to perform other tasks as necessary.
• Must demonstrate a keen interest and ability to assist with hands-on activities.
