As a subject matter expert team in the Global Legal department, the Global Litigation team handles litigation matters involving TikTok in all the regions in which TikTok operates, including the United States. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.
Responsibilities:
- Handle general litigation, pre-litigation claims, and all related matters.
- Manage all aspects of litigation matters including e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, depositions, case management conferences, motion practice, and arbitration or trial preparation and presentation.
- Supervise and partner with outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, including the day-to-day running of matters, overall strategy, written work, and oral advocacy.
- Identify potential litigation risk and counsel the business to minimize exposure.
- Support the company's strategy for litigations and pre-litigation disputes.
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience in private practice or a corporate litigation department with a highly regarded firm or organization.
- Substantive experience with class action practice, consumer litigation, and intermediary liability required. Preferred experience includes product liability litigation, defamation law (U.S. and global) and U.S. constitutional law. Experience with IP litigation and privacy litigation would be nice-to-have.
- Experience with legal issues related to consumer-facing technology strongly preferred.
- Ability to research complex legal questions.
- Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and inter-personal skills. Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from the Global Legal team and business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including exceptional legal writing skills and the ability to craft persuasive and concise briefs.
- Member in good standing of the New York or California bar association or another bar association with the ability to register as in-house counsel in New York or California.
