What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at TIM JORDAN CO.?
This is a permanent full time position and you must live in the area or relocate to the area. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment along with daily directing/instructing of a small crew (Lead Worker). The Equipment Operator must be proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Compactors/Rollers, Graders, and other pieces of equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator will work in all weather and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way. The Heavy Equipment Operator will interact with TJC employees, subcontractors, and customers in a courteous and respectful manner. The Equipment Operator must have good communication skills, leadership skills, and great safety record.
Qualifications
· Knowledge of Heavy Equipment such as: bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, compactors, graders, etc.
· Understand select fill types/classifications and have the ability to calculate material requirements.
· Ability to accurately grade build sites to specified requirements
· Understand utility systems, including proper sewer and storm drain installations
· Must interpret drawings/specifications for proper installations
· Must be willing/able to instruct and direct a 3-5-man crew, leadership experience a plus.
· Must have good communication skills.
· Minimum 8 yrs experience operating previously described equipment
Physical Demands
· Ability to continuously sit, stand or walk.
· Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
· Ability to work in extreme heat or cold for entire shift.
· May lift and carry heavy objects 5 -25 pounds frequently, 25- 50 pounds often, and 50-100 pounds occasionally.
· Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions continuously.
· Work at great heights, or outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as gloves, hardhats, protective chemical suits, devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, and hearing.
· While working in construction, operators must be especially alert to safely follow procedures and must deal with a variety of hazards.
