Position Summary
The Kitchen Steward ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, and the food storage spaces and food service ware, makes sure floors are kept clean and dry and that walkways are kept clear from obstacles. The Steward operates the dish machine, monitors sanitizer levels, removes trash, and performs basic janitorial tasks such as mopping and sweeping. The Steward assists in food delivery, maintenance, follows HAACP guidelines, is a communicative team player with excellent time management skills, can prioritize tasks in a busy setting, and maintains a professional demeanor.

Essential Functions
- Demonstrates appropriate hand hygiene practices.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of HACCP Standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of handling soiled and clean dishes.
- Ensures the availability of clean dishes by washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware.
- Cleans machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, pans, mixers, etc.
- Documents refrigerator temperatures daily.
- Unloads and stores deliveries.
- Rotates stock using first in, first out (FIFO).
- Sweeps and mops floors.
- Takes out the trash and cleans garbage cans.
- Supports other kitchen team members by assisting with other tasks, as needed.
- Reports kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.
- Capable of communicating effectively with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel.
- Respectful use of all hospital / Sodexo equipment.
- Willing to comply with all food safety procedures.
- Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
- Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
- Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
- One year of experience in food service preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
