JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Security/Transportation Coordinator, the Security Officer is responsible for monitoring all areas of the Pavilion and Hospital in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Work Experience
- Corrections or law enforcement experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
- Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions
- Patrols the pavilion and hospital building and premises to prevent fires, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
- Monitors conduct and behaviors of visitors on properties.
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Reports safety and or fire hazards or security violations.
- Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from Pavilion and hospital personnel and visitor; escorts personnel to parking lot.
- Participates in investigations as directed.
- Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
- Secures and /or unlocks offices and facilities as required.
- Maintains and secures log of times received.
- Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.
- Identifies and plans for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury to the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates competency in communication with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Confidentiality must be maintained for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates appropriate awareness for safety of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- When making round, if pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients are away from their intended area, notify their station/pod.
- Demonstrates appropriate awareness for suspected abuse/neglect to pediatric, adolescent, adult , and geriatric patients and take measures to report them according to protocol.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
